Battlesbridge

 

Battlesbridge is a small village in Essex, nestled on the banks of the River Crouch midway between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea, it has the largest Antiques Centre in Essex.

The Battlesbridge Antiques Centre comprises of five period buildings -Cromwell House, The Bridgebarn, The Haybarn, The Old Granary and Muggeridge Farm, and houses over 80 dealers offering advice, valuations and opinions.

Directly opposite the antiques centre Mill is The Barge Inn, a traditional English pub dating back hundreds of years, an English Heritage Grade II listed building which serves the best quality Real Ales, cask conditioned and serving food from the kitchen run by their award winning Head Chef. 

The village is served by Battlesbridge railway station on the Crouch Valley Line. A direct train line to this village is also run from London Liverpool Street Station

Closeby in Rettenden is the Royal Horticultural Society’s Hyde Hall Garden. Created over a 30 year period by Dr and Mrs Robinson, Hyde Hall is set in a 360-acre estate. The cultivated area of the garden - in excess of 24 acres.

Battlesbridge is a conservation area which was jointly designated by Chelmsford Borough Council (north side of the river) and Rochford District Council (south side of the river) in February 1992 and March 1992 respectively.
